Apple’s AI Upgrades to Miss Launch of iOS 18 Overhaul
Apple’s highly anticipated AI upgrades, announced in June, will not be included in the initial launch of iOS 18 and iPad OS 18 in September. Instead, the features will be pushed back to iOS 18.1 and iPad OS 18.1, which are expected to be released in October. This minor delay is not a significant issue, but it shows that Apple is still working to iron out bugs and fix issues before the public launch.
The AI upgrades, dubbed "Apple Intelligence," will be available on devices with Apple silicon, iPads with M1 chips or newer, and iPhones with 8GB of RAM or more. Currently, only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max support Apple Intelligence, but more models will be added in September, including the iPhone 16 and other new devices.
Apple Intelligence includes a range of features, such as image creation, integration with chat, and writing tools that can summarize and shorten text messages. While these features are not revolutionary, the deep integration and ease of use on Apple devices make them stand out from rivals.
In related news, Apple is set to report its fiscal third-quarter earnings on Thursday, and investors will be closely watching the company’s guidance on the iPhone’s performance. With no new hardware launches during the quarter, the forward-looking commentary from Apple’s CFO and CEO will be crucial in determining the company’s future prospects.
As a DeFi tech editor, I’d like to highlight some interesting facts about the intersection of AI and DeFi. For example, AI-powered lending platforms are becoming increasingly popular, using machine learning algorithms to assess creditworthiness and automate lending decisions. Additionally, AI-driven market analysis tools are helping DeFi investors make more informed decisions about their investments. As AI continues to evolve, we can expect to see even more innovative applications in the DeFi space.
